MANGO LASSI Summers are in and I always have curd ready at home now a days(thanks to mom), so I thought why not make another yoghurt based drink and here it is. MANGO LASSI, is actually a kind of smoothie as it has yoghurt in it and is very popular in Northern India. As a child I used to crave a lot for lassi and always asked mom to prepare it with different flavours like roohafza, khus, rose, cashew etc. but I loved mango lassi the most among all. I add few tsps of homemade cream or malai in the lassi to make it rich which is completely optional but do give it a try.Mostly, I try all my beverages on my father and serve him when he returns from work. He loves all of them which makes me really happy. Mango lassi is his favourite too.

This delight tastes best when served chilled. After a tiring day anyone would be relieved after having this drink. These drinks are actually meant for summers because mango is a seasonal fruit plus having it chilled quenches thirst as well as it brings down the body temperature. Addition of kesar or saffron strands is also very popular in various parts of India but I dont add it. Instead I garnish tha lassi with chopped cashews and coarsely ground cardamom. A scoop of vanilla or mango flavoured ice-cream would also go very well with the lassi which is again totally optional. 




Prep time – 8-10mins

Cook time – Nil

Serves – 2 to 3

Curd – 1/2 cup

Mango pulp – 1 cup

Milk – 1/2 cup

Malai/Cream – 2 tsp(optional)

Sugar – 2tbsp / as required

Cardamon – 4 to 5(coarsely ground)

Cashew nut – 10 to 12(chopped)


  • Peel and chop mangoes, keep aside
  • In a food processor add curd, chopped mango pulp, milk, malai, sugar and blend it till smooth.
  • Pour out in glasses, garnish with ground cardamom and chopped cashews.
  • Serve chilled.



If the mango is very sweet you can skip out sugar. I had to add sugar because my mangoes were not too sweet. Share your thoughts on the recipe. See you soon friends!!!
